GK Engineers provided an MEP assessment, then full MEP and technology design, for Lakefield Veterinary Group’s conversion of a two-story building in Gig Harbor, Washington into the Puget Sound Veterinary Specialists hospital. The hospital houses CT, surgery, ICU, oncology, dental and wards, plus an MRI suite added in the final phase.

The work ran in five phases from 2021 through 2022. Phase 2 renovated 8,629 SF of specialty practice with nine gas-heat rooftop units on existing curbs, medical vacuum, DI water, pet hair traps, a new main switchboard and a 150 kW generator. Phase 5 added a 798 SF MRI suite with RF shield coordination, a dedicated chiller and transformer, oxygen and scavenger outlets, and its own exhaust.

GK designed the hospital in Revit from Houston under Washington State codes. HITT built it through 2023 while GK answered more than 200 RFIs, and Lakefield has since hired GK for three more clinics.
