GK Engineers provided full MEP and technology design for Lakefield Veterinary Group’s renovation of the existing 9,680 SF Animal Hospital of Conroe into a specialty practice, GK’s second hospital for Lakefield. The program covers exam rooms, minor procedure, imaging, dental, treatment, wards, medical gas and laundry.

Three gas-heat rooftop units replaced the old equipment, with interlocked exhaust fans and mini-splits. The existing 400A, 480V service stayed, and GK added a 200 kW natural gas generator with standby and life safety transfer switches, medical gas and central vacuum, wet tables with hair traps, acid neutralization, a water softener and a gas water heater.

When the specified rooftop units could not be sourced in 2022, the contractor substituted larger units without reheat and the clinic fought humidity. In 2024 GK re-selected units with hot gas reheat, modulating outside air dampers and MERV 13 filters, and reissued the mechanical set.
