GK Engineers was established in 2017 in Bellaire, Texas, through a partnership between Ms. Davia Gernand, P.E., and Mr. William Kluesner. Collectively, they bring together more than 40 years of experience in MEP design. With their leadership, our team guides owners through the MEP design process while collaborating closely with the broader project team. The result is a solution aligned with individual goals, scope, and budget, without compromising clear communication and delivery.

Davia GernandDavia Gernand

As a Co-Founder and Partner at GK Engineers, Davia Gernand, P.E., brings more than 18 years of mechanical and plumbing design engineering experience across an impressive range of project types. From educational facilities and stadiums to laboratory environments, medical applications, and complex renovation work, Davia has built a reputation for delivering thoughtful, efficient, and highly practical design solutions grounded in real-world project experience.

What truly sets Davia apart is her love of problem-solving. She finds genuine joy in tackling challenges, whether she’s evaluating multiple design paths during early project phases or guiding teams toward solutions that balance performance, constructability, and client goals. Her ability to break down problems, consider all angles, and arrive at clear, workable answers is a defining trait both inside and outside the office.

Davia’s leadership extends into her community as well. A proud native Houstonian, she enjoys giving back through service and currently serves on her church’s grounds improvement committee, where she applies that same problem-solving mindset to support the spaces and people she cares about. Her passion for improving the world around her one project, one team, and one community effort at a time is woven into everything she does.

William (Jamie) KluesnerWilliam (Jamie) Kluesner

William (Jamie) Kluesner co-founded GK Engineers with a simple goal: create a firm where technical excellence and genuine client service go hand in hand. Starting his career in 1999, Jamie brings more than 25 years of MEP industry experience, including 15+ years as a Senior Project Manager, and a deep passion for designing electrical systems that work seamlessly within the bigger picture of a building.

Jamie’s technical background is rooted in electrical power distribution, lighting design, grounding, and system coordination. Over the years, he has led teams of engineers and designers, guided complex MEP design efforts, and helped deliver projects across commercial, industrial, mission-critical, retail, and institutional sectors. He loves digging into details, solving challenges early, and making sure clients feel heard throughout the entire process.

What really drives Jamie is the relationship side of engineering. The conversations, the problem-solving, and the chance to make someone’s day easier by being responsive and dependable. His guiding philosophy comes from Albert Einstein: “Only a life lived in the service of others is worth living.” It’s the mindset he brings to every client, every team member, and every project.

Christopher TueyChristopher Tuey

Christopher Tuey is a Partner at GK Engineers and a respected leader in the plumbing design community with more than 23 years of experience. Known for his steady leadership and technical precision, Chris has spent his career shaping high-quality plumbing solutions across commercial, laboratory, medical, and complex specialty projects. His expertise spans a wide range of plumbing systems, water-efficient design strategies, and large-scale piping applications, along with a deep background in BIM and coordinated building systems.

Inside the office, Chris oversees all plumbing design efforts and ensures the technical quality, accuracy, and consistency of GK Engineers’ work. He sets the bar for internal standards and mentors the design team with a leadership style built on accountability, clarity, and continuous improvement. Around the office, he’s often heard quoting a variation of William Deming “Quality is everyone’s responsibility.” a mantra he brings to every project and every team interaction.

Outside the office, Chris is equally committed to elevating the plumbing engineering profession. For the past five years, he has served on the board of the Houston Chapter of ASPE (American Society of Plumbing Engineers) and currently holds the position of Vice President – Technical. His work with ASPE reflects his passion for advancing industry knowledge, supporting peers, and contributing to the future of the plumbing engineering community

Eric AndersonEric Anderson

Eric is a graduate of Kansas State University and has been involved in the electrical engineering industry for over 14 years, with experience in mechanical and electrical engineering as well as project management.

His background includes seeing projects through from start to finish in a large variety of industries, and an emphasis in electrical design. He is highly skilled in Revit and AutoCAD, and consistently strives to use these tools to optimize the speed and quality of project outcomes.

Eric’s leadership skills serve GK and our clients every day through his passion for teaching and his willingness to share his vast knowledge on engineering with those around him.

James ThorntonJames Thornton

James has been involved with project management and client relationships within the MEP industry for over 10 years, with experience in business planning, project scheduling, customer service, and asset management. 

At GK, James works directly with clients to ensure that their needs are being met at every step of the design process, communicating directly with the engineers to keep track of timelines and schedules throughout the project duration.

Chac TranChac Tran

Mr. Chac Tran is a Senior Mechanical Engineer with over 45 years of experience designing HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems for major institutional, laboratory, healthcare, and higher education projects. He is widely recognized for his technical leadership, mentorship, and depth of practical field experience.

Chac originally mentored Ms. Davia Gernand, PE. Now, he serves as a senior technical leader at GK Engineers, lending his expertise to some of the firm’s most complex projects.

Known for his meticulous attention to design quality, energy efficiency, and construction feasibility, Chac consistently delivers engineering solutions that meet owner expectations, integrate seamlessly with architectural vision, and optimize long-term facility performance.
