GK Engineers, LLC provided comprehensive Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) design services for the renovation and expansion of the Odyssey facility. The project included the remodel of an existing 35,000-square-foot building and the ground-up construction of a new 20,000-square-foot building, later reduced to approximately 10,000 square feet.

The mechanical design included detailed heating and cooling load calculations to determine appropriate system capacities for both the renovated and new spaces. HVAC systems were designed to ensure comfort, energy efficiency, and compliance with all applicable Texas building codes. HVAC drawings suitable for permitting and construction were prepared, with system types and equipment selections coordinated during design development to align with the architectural program and existing building constraints. The reconfiguration of the existing locker rooms and gymnasium required substantial modification to ductwork layouts, air distribution, and ventilation strategies to ensure consistent performance across both existing and new areas.

The electrical design encompassed complete power distribution for the facility, including new branch circuits for lighting, wiring devices, HVAC, and plumbing equipment. The lighting system design included load calculations and circuiting to support architectural layouts, with final fixture selections and locations coordinated with the architect and owner. Electrical systems were designed to integrate seamlessly with existing service infrastructure while providing sufficient capacity and flexibility for future additions. Provisions were included for life safety systems and code-compliant electrical distribution throughout both phases of construction.

Plumbing design services included both renovation and expansion scope elements. The existing domestic water service was evaluated and reused, with GK Engineers designing extensions and connections back into the main line to serve new plumbing fixtures. A central hot water system with a re-circulation loop was provided to maintain efficiency and reduce wait times for hot water delivery. Existing sanitary sewer lines were retained where feasible, with new connections designed to accommodate added fixture loads in classrooms and renovated locker room areas.
